About rsync

Rsync is a unix utility, which stands for “remote sync”. It is a remote and local file synchronization tool and functions as both a file synchronization and file transfer program. It uses an algorithm (delta transfer algorithm) that minimizes the amount of data copied by only moving the portions of files that have changed.  The terminology ‘rsync’ can also refer to the network protocol developed to utilize this tool.
